Irene and Leslie Dube Centre for Mental Health

This facility located on the banks of the South Saskatchewan River at the Royal University Hospital site in Saskatoon, Sk. had its grand opening in May 2010.
The 7.047 sq m facility includes a 54-bed mental health acute care wing with an additional 10-bed dedicated adolescent unit, and a specialized electroconvulsize therapy (ECT) suite.
The facility provides for enhanced mental health services including therapeutic recreation, youth care workers, occupational therapy and social workers.
The highly efficient integrated design was modeled to consume 64% less energy than the reference building built to the MNECB.
The mechanical design featured the following:
- In-floor heating throughout with individual room heating control
- 100% fresh air supply to all patient rooms and common areas
- Total energy heat recovery wheel to exchange energy from the exhaust air
- High efficiency condensing boilers
- Zone level cooling supplied by chilled water fan coil units.
- Medical oxygen and vacuum is provided to select patient rooms
- Room pressurization control
- Therapeutic tub rooms.
